This song was inspired by two brothers i met through ayahuasca ceremony, Nadeem and Anthos. Sampled their amazing guitar and singing and flipped it into this hip hop ode to Abuela, grandmother, the mother of the mother of the plants, the vine of the dead, my greatest teacher, Ayahuasca.
This year marks 10 years from my first experience with the plant medicine, an experience which changed my life. Forever grateful to the Amazon and all the lessons learned in her healing embrace. In the time since Ayahuasca has flourished around the world, with good and bad effects. The healing power of the medicine is incredible, but in our commodified western world it seems to have become another experience to purchase, with legions of new age hippies flocking to the south to experience something of real value. I don't begrudge the search for truth, but a hard look at the craving for spiritual experience is important, as well as respect for the indigenous peoples who share this medicine with the world and their lands and customs.
There isn't easy answers, but the love and healing that i witnessed forever has changed me. I'm forever thankful to the plant teachers, Pacha Mama, and all my relations i share this journey with
